Home Automation with Alexa is a system that allows you to use your voice to control all of the various devices in your home. The reason that you can use your voice to control these devices is because it is similar to what you would use to control regular speakers and other similar items. You are able to adjust volume, change the colors on the remote, turn on/off lights, and even talk to Alexa. The one thing that you will need to make sure is that you have your own outlet available for your voice to come through.
One of the best parts of having a home automation system like Alexa is that you can completely take over the security and lighting of your home. There are so many devices that can be controlled with your voice, but you will need to have your own router, motion detector, digital camera, microphones, and door and window sensors. This is great for if you are someone who does not want to worry about messing with codes or trying to figure out how to shut off things when you are away from your home.
Another feature that you will find in most home automation systems like Alexa is that they will automatically send a text message or an email to the user’s cell phone when certain conditions are met. For example, if your teenage daughter needs medication done, you can set up her room with an Ionic sound system and then send her a text message or an email if she needs the medicine. If your dog breaks something, you can set up his room with a Smart Robot pet robot. These are only a few of the devices that can be linked to your home automation system.
Home Automation with Alexa works great when you are away from home. For example, you can set up all of your devices to turn on when you are away and then automatically shut them off when you get home. You can do this for lights, appliances, security systems, HVAC, cameras, voice control, security cameras, shut off water and electricity, and other items. Some devices that can be controlled by voice control include lights and appliances such as blowers. You can even have your home automation system dictate when you get home so that you don’t waste time getting everything plugged in and turned on.
Another feature of Alexa is that it will allow you to use the phrase “voice command” and then it will connect to the internet using either an Ethernet cable or wireless connection. The phrase can be anything you want as long as it starts with “Alexa”, followed by the seven digit number that corresponds to each connected device. With this voice command, you can open your refrigerator, add food, change your diaper, adjust the thermostat, speak to your Amazon Echo, and much more. The voice commands work just the same way as if you were to use the phrase “touch command” or “natural language speaking” for the various devices that are not Alexa connected. It is still best to keep several remotes around the house that you can quickly go to if one breaks or becomes unresponsive.
You can also activate or deactivate certain Alexa features, such as turning lights or appliances off or on. You can also set up a condition where certain Alexa-enabled devices, such as lighting timers, are always on or off. This way you know ahead of time whether you want to have the lights on or off before you leave home. Home automation with Alexa is only limited by what your imagination can pull together.
